-
- A word from Gene...
-
- What follows is NOT a plea for your pity, but the honest facts. I am a
- person disabled with Multiple Sclerosis. I want to suppliment my meager
- fixed income ( which typically runs out the 3rd week of the month) by
- writing software distributed as shareware to keep costs down.
-
- Now, I know that among all the types of sharware that's available, this type
- (information) is probably the hardest to get paid for.
-
-
-
-
-
- I really hope you will seriously consider registering this program as it
- represents many, many hours of research on my part. Your registration
- (donation?) is the way I have chosen to attempt to augment my income.
-
- I plan to publish many different DISKREFS. Other shareware I have out is
- T-FIG, an interactive Telix Tutor program that runs within Telix (it may be
- found on bulliten boards under the name of TFxxx.ZIP, where xxx represents
- the version of Telix covered - Example: TF312.ZIP.), and SHIFNSHO (sometimes
- named SHIFTKEY). SHIFNSHO is really two programs. One is SHIFTKY,COM, a
- program that "remembers" that a shift (Ctrl, Alt, Shift) key was pressed and
- acts like it being held down until the next key is pressed. Great for those
- who can type using only one hand. The other program included is SHOWCAP.COM.
- All it does is change the cursor from a line to a block when the CapsLock key
- is engaged. Keeps THIS FROM HAPPENING...
-
- All DISKREFS are only $15.00. You would pay at least twice that much for a
- how-to book at a bookstore...if you could find one. Then you'd have to hold
- your place while trying to use the index. DISKREFS can be popped up any
- time, and it even "remembers to insert a bookmark where you were reading!
- So, please consider sending $15.00.
-
-
- Traditionally. something extra is offered for those who register. Not being
- one to break tradition, I'll offer a very well put together index file to
- those who send in their $15.00. The index file lists virtually EVERYthing
- you might want to look up (by name, of course) and tell you what file(s)
- it's in. Not only that, but you can jump direcctly to it from the index.

- DISKREFS Specifications
- =======================
-
- DISKREFS is an easy-to-learn, memory resident system. It makes hypertext
- jumps to ASCII files, using links found in ASCII files or displayed on the
- screen by other programs.
-
- The specifications of DISKREFS are:
-
- Program size: 16065 bytes (HyperRez on disk)
- Installed size: 59680 bytes (for program, text, and links)
- ASCII file size: Maximum size in 20K (set by text buffer)
- Maximum recall: Remembers Right-arrow jumps 64 levels deep
-
-
-
-
-
- Essential files for running the program:
-
- Program: HR.EXE (HyperRez program)
- Title ASCII file: START.TXT
- HyperRez F1 file: HELP.TXT
- Instructions: READ.ME...this file!
-
- Directory Instructions:
-
- If you are running DISKREFS on a hard disk, copy all the files into a
- separate directory. Always load the DISKREFS program from this directory.
- If you know how to write batch files, that's pretty easy to add.
-
- Loading HyperRez instruction:
-
- At the DOS prompt (in the HyperRez directory), type HR to install the program
- in memory. After it loads, hold the Ctrl key down and depress the Backspace
- (<-) key.
-
-
-
-
- Operations:
-
- Press Ctrl-Backspace to active the program
- Press Arrow keys to operate the program
- Press F1 key for help
- Press ESC to terminate the program
-
- Memory-resident conflicts:
-
- Because the HyperRez program makes no stack calls, it is unaffected by the
- loading sequence or memory location of other programs.
-
- Easy, wasn't it? I will try to make all the DISKREF programs this easy to
- use..
-
- One item to remember is that HR.EXE whould be unloaded from memory in the
- reverse order that it was installed. That means, if you load HR.EXE before
- you load another program, then unload it after you unload that program.
